(1970) Holy Grail alert! This hand carved maquette was created by LeRoy Schmaltz during the initial design phases of The Polynesian Village Resort with WED Imagineering and Welton Becket and Associates personnel. It's a wood carved scale model of what the standard general signage would look like for the project. This included the main dimensional sign and it's carved support pole. In this case, the sign is for the BORA BORA guest room longhouse. The back features more carving which Disney decided to pass on for what must have been cots saving reasons. "The Poly" has some of the most iconic signage and graphics in Disney history. OA has been synonymous with Disney theme parks and resorts, but none more so than the beloved Polynesian Village. This treasure has graced the walls of the OA lunchroom for decades as a trophy of pride.13"x12".VG+ with typical wear.
