(1960s) A very rare original and quite distinctive, stylized Marquesan figural pole from a Polynesian Apartment complex in Vancouver, Canada. Several projects such as this were completed in the Canadian West Coast and were supplied by firms such as Armet & Davis and Oceanic Arts. The provider of this development is unknown. The Tikis from this complex are unique and can be seen in the reference postcard with "Miss Kauai and Tiki"....because of this image, the pole is sometimes uncharitably known as the "Titty-Biter Tiki"! A very rare specimen, indeed! The pole has been bisected at one point for installation around an architectural support post. The post is solidly rejoined with a hollow center where the structural post would run through. VG+ with typical wear and chipping. 7"dia x 69.5".
