(1950s) This gorgeous carving was a perennial OA item and was used in the outdoor dining areas of the MAI-KAI. The posts would be used for their namesake between large diameter bamboo railings on the pathways. Thus, the weathered appearance and circular post cuts to attach the bamboo. Many of these are still in place at the MAI-KAi and can be found in recent photos before the closing for repairs in 2020. A rare piece of history! VG with several railing circular cuts through the post and weathering to the wood. See online photos. Nice patina. 7.25"dia x 39.75".
