(1960s) This room screen was created by LeRoy Schmaltz under the direction of Vince Buono for the build out of the famous COCO PALMS RESORT in Kauai, Hawaii. Most famous for its use in Elvis Presley's BLUE HAWAII (1962), the resort was an epic showplace of Hawaiian culture and design. These wood panels featured a crushed abalone shell surface with different colored Japanese glass fishing floats suspended across the panel. This allowed light to flow through to create a stained glass effect across the lobby floor. After creating these for The Coco Palms, several other venues (Tiki Jo) ordered similar panels based on this OA showroom sample. Exceptionally rare and absolutely gorgeous! *Due to the fragility and size, special shipping arrangements required.48"x24"VG+ with typical wear
