(1948) Incredible opportunity to own historic, original artwork from Trader Vic's! Many will recognize this lively art style used extensively by Trader Vic's in the 1940s and 50s. Vic Bergeron met French artist and cartoonist, Guy Huze in New Zealand in the late 1940s. Huze attended the Paris School of Fine Arts and soon after left his home country to travel the world. He ultimately setted in Australia and New Zealand. From that South Pacific base, he continued his travels extensively from Tahiti to Africa. Immediately taken with his European perspective of native lifestyle, Vic hired Huze to begin creating illustrations for his chain of restaurants and bars. Soon, Huze art became the signature style for Trader Vic's and it was used extensively in marketing and merchandise. Here is a fantastic cache of art created by Guy Huze for a menu cover and interior accents. The lot includes a comprehensive mock-up of the menu cover for The Outrigger (Trader Vic's) in Seattle, Washington at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel. This art is very close to the final art, accomplished in gouache on onionskin and mounted on cardstock. The interior border artwork is also in gouache on illustration board. A mailer promo copy of the final menu is included in the lot. This art was used for other location menus of The Outrigger. Art such as this is a true treasure and very difficult to find. Overall VG+ woth toning and chipping to the onionskin. 8.5"x11.75" closed cover art, 15"x6.75" & 13.5"x5" border art, 4"x7" & 4.75"x7.5" cards.
